Hidden Blobs of Fat
Trigger Warning: you might find this discussion gross. I’ve written about my weight loss and fitness journey before. It’s been a long journey with a LOT of bumps in the road. I had almost made my goal weight last year, but then something happened and I lost ground.

Speaking Up About Microaggression
I may have accidentally been mean to a coworker the other day. I didn't mean to be mean, honestly. It's just that for some reason, all the years I was afraid to speak out when I saw or heard someone tell an insensitive joke or casually make a racist, sexist, homophobic, or agist statement have slipped away.

Lingering Dread
The first time I had the dream, I was truly exhausted. I remember that it had taken me quite a bit of effort for me to finish the dishes and wipe down the sink and counters. I don’t like to go to bed with tasks unfinished. It makes me feel anxious. Otherwise, I would have dropped the sponge into the water and crawled into the bed without even changing into my nightgown. I was that tired. Instead, I had pushed through my tasks even though I was dead on my feet, as the saying goes.

Remember Them All
Last Memorial Day, I posted a story called Don’t Thank a Veteran on Memorial Day. I originally posted it to Medium, then cross-posted here, because I wanted my non-Medium member readers to have a chance to check it out. On both Medium and Vocal, Don't Thank a Veteran enjoyed a modest readership. However, I also posted the story to Newsbreak, where it became my most-read story so far. In fact, it became rather controversial. I didn’t mean for it to become contentious. Maybe it was the title.

Resolution, Evolution, or Revolution?
The vintage New Year postcard above is in the public domain. I downloaded from the Graphics Fairy and edited it using MS Photo. The pigs in the wreath are for good luck. Pigs represent good luck in many traditions. You can read more about that here and here.

Christmas Cozy
We are in the midst of what we tend to call "the holiday season." It's a cozy time for many of us - a time when memories of childhood Christmases filled with love and the warm scent of pine awaken our senses. Storefront displays, bright colored lights, and the sounds of the season, both secular and religious, fill us with nostalgia and a sense of being wrapped in loving, protective arms.

The Crack Where the Light Gets In
Disclaimer: As I refer to quantum physics in the following story, I make no claim to have a strong understanding of the concepts. I simply share my perspective based on my somewhat intuitive interpretation of what I have read about it.

How I Didn’t Know the Rights I Didn’t Have as a Woman Coming of Age in the 70s
Last September I came across an article on Medium by writer Katie Jgln about the idealization of a non-existent pre-second-wave feminist time when women were happy being housewives. This fallacy is being perpetuated by a younger generation of “anti-feminists.”
