Red Storm Beats the Heat in 8-1 Victory over Pound Ridge
On Saturday June 22, Somers Red Storm started hot like the weather and loaded the bases with nobody out. Unfortunately, two strikeouts and ground ball kept the runners put and Pound Ridge answered by scoring one in the bottom of the inning. But the boys weren't chilled, and their bats rose right alongside with the temperature.

Somers Softball Runs Ends in the Section Finals vs Harrison
Please see tip, pledge and subscribe buttons below Harrison Slideshow After beating Brewster and Clarkstown North in the first two rounds of the sectionals, the Tuskers bought first seeded Clarkstown South in the semis. The buyer didn’t need to beware, though, and a 6-4 victory put the glass slipper on these Somers girls. But unfortunately, the ceiling proved just a little too high on May 25 at North Rockland High School, and second place would have to do.

John Jay Moves into Finals with 14-3 Victory Over Hen Hud

One versus four, the Wolves did wait a bit, but it wasn’t long before the boys looked very much like the dominant top seed.

Somers Faculty/Student Basketball Game Brings Fun and Competition
On Friday May 17, in the thick of the postseason, Somers stepped back and took a little down time courtesy of the Peer Leadership Program. “I’ve always felt this would be a fun idea, having a staff/student basketball game,” said Noah Volkman, the organizer of the event. And no doubt, the Somers senior was on the mark. But competition was definitely part of the lesson plan, and both sides did their share of schooling in the hard fought affair.

John Jay Moves to Semis with Win Over Pelham
On Friday May 17, third seeded John Jay began the sectionals with a quarterfinal matchup versus Pelham, and not going unnoticed, Jojo Degl returned from injury. Out four straight games, she eased into her reemergence.. “I was getting used to it,” said the middie. But Pelham taking a 4-3 at the end of the first had Degl fully acclimated.
