Looking back
I started writing long before I signed up to Vocal, but I have always struggled to stay focused and motivated. The appeal of Vocal Media was the ability to self-publish. Prior to finding this platform, my options were to post on social media or just keep my writing to myself until I produced a full manuscript. Neither option appealed to me. I have worked out over the years that one of my weaknesses is my lack of attention span. I tend to be easily distracted and do not enjoy sitting still for any length of time. I have often found that if I get stuck on a section of a story or writing project, if I walk away and change my activity, I can compose what I want in my head and return to finish the segment to my satisfaction.

#1 Rule for Life
Life rule Number One: Rules were made to be broken. Rebel!! Break away!! Drinking my morning cup of personality (a.k.a. coffee), I read Cathy Holmes' haiku about, well, haiku rules. I'll include a link to her haiku at the end. And, yet again, the inspiration fairy struck!

Learning a little about Love
I have a confession to make: I am not the single most confident person in the world. Despite being fairly outspoken at times, a little loud at others and in general a bit manic and over-the-top, I'm actually an introvert. During the course of the years, I've learned that being a wallflower really doesn't help me achieve my goals or make connections with other people. And those connections are important for so many different reasons, but I wont get into them right here and now.

The Smith and The Stranger
Hello there! So nice of you to stop by. They tell me you enjoy a good story. Which is wonderful, because I like to tell stories. And do I have a story for you. The origin of this Fairy Tale is so old, no one knows where it began. Now, I know what you are thinking. Fairy Tales are for children! And modern day Fairy Tales are. Before they were Fairy Tales however, these stories were Folk Tales. And these Tales held messages for adults. So please, take a seat and let me spin you a tale older than any other. This story begins in a town not so far away, on a day much like this one ....

Her Blue Smile
‘Hey Brett, can I grab a pack, please?’ Ava asked, rubbing her tired eyes. He gave her a sad smile, knowing the meek girl was not a smoker. She didn’t even like manning the cigarette counter. Brett always swapped with her if she was allocated there. He suspected she was under strict instructions not to return home without them.
