Pop culture can and should promote social change
Pop culture β music, film and TV, fashion, design and all the other creative outputs of a society β has the power to change how we think about important issues. While it can be easy to dismiss something like Game of Thrones or Pulp Fiction, as essentially disposable entertainment, there is no doubt that each new series is created within a culture that exists because of what has come before and that reflects back on what comes next.

This is anime for people who don't watch anime
Have you ever asked yourself, βWhat's the one type of anime that would serve as an introduction to the medium?β Let me save you the trouble: it's Pop Culture Anime. No, that doesn't mean that it's a list of anime about pop culture staples such as superheroes and vampires (though there is one show on this list that does feature those), nor does it mean it's dubbed versions for which the source material is itself pop culture.

I tried to be a hipster because i thought pop culture could disrupt moral values
I recently bought a pair of jeans from a cool looking shop downtown. The brand is ThreadLab, the design is pretty nice, fit me well. I am not sure if i could get used to wearing them in public but you know what, its fine. I just bought something that i really like, because it looks good to my eyes so why should i care if people would like it too or not.

Nowadays, when people say that they like βpop cultureβ music, they most likely mean βTop 40β music. But the pop vs. rock war wasn't always so apparent. For example, in the 1950s and through the early 1960s, some of the most popular musicians were The Beatles, while in the latter half of that decade and into the 1970s it was disco artists such as Bee Gees who scored big (and remain big today) with hits like Staying Alive and Stayin' Alive.
