A Chicken in Every Pot. Top Story - April 2024.
A Chicken in Every Pot Our new additions! 3 Barred Rock, 2 Lavender Orpington First of all, let me say, I am not a fan of birds. I have had many traumatic run-ins with them throughout my life – from Quaker Parakeets (small parrots) to African Greys to Cockatiels – and many more. They have drawn blood and held me hostage. Being held hostage by a Quaker Parakeet is mighty embarrassing, but …

Day #13: Writing Challenge
CHALLENGE #1: OBJECT WRITING Day 13/14 “WHERE” Writing 5 minutes – “Suburban Swimming Pool” At the Community Pool. The blue water looks so refreshing on this steamy day as I stand on the edge, sucking up the courage to jump in. I don’t think I’ll jump. Not today.

Unexpected Betrayal
I hopped off the school bus, hitting the ground at a dead run ahead of my two younger brothers; dropped my book bag at the house door and ran down to the barnyard. I couldn’t wait to touch the little horse who would be waiting to see me, after a full day of going through the motions of attending my Middle School classes. I wanted to get home to continue the training of my young horse. He was coming along so well!

Day #12:Writing Challenge
CHALLENGE #1: OBJECT WRITING Day 12/14 “WHERE” Writing 5 minutes – “A Cliff by the Ocean” I stood on the cliff, my long hair whipping my face in the strong wind. The waves crashed the rocks below and the side of the steep embankment in the humid air. This was a stormy Lake Superior calling to me in its powerful turbulence in a storm, reminiscent of the ocean. Was I lost at sea?

CHALLENGE #1: OBJECT WRITING Day 11/14 “WHEN” Writing 5 minutes – “Late Evening” Maybe it was the late evening or too much wine or the music with the driving beat, but I felt indestructible and restless, filled with the heartbeat of creativity and emotion I couldn’t explain.

Wind Direction
The light breeze buffeted the back of my head, raising a small tuft of hair. It may even have been the breath of a whisper. I cupped my hand around the cigarette dangling from my mouth, while I tried to keep the tiny flame of the match from being extinguished. I inhaled deeply and exhaled a stream of anxiety, relaxing into getting started on my plans for the day.

Day#10: Writing Challenge
CHALLENGE #1: OBJECT WRITING Day 10/14 “WHEN” Writing 5 minutes – “Six in the Morning” Waking up in the dark is hard. Rolling out of a warm bed, removing yourself from the comfort of your lover’s arms, but the silence you enter is glorious, as it is to watch a new sunrise to greet each day. Yes, it’s hard – but the rewards are extraordinary! Embrace the darkness and the light.

Day#9: Writing Challenge
CHALLENGE #1: OBJECT WRITING Day 9/14 “WHEN” Writing 5 minutes – “Summer Rainstorm” It was the last day of vacation before the next year of school began. We ran from playing in the park, all the way home, jumping in puddles and getting soaked along the way in the downpour, laughing and giggling as loud as the thunder. We were determined to make this a great day despite the summer rainstorm, or maybe because of it.

Day#8: Writing Challenge
CHALLENGE #1: OBJECT WRITING Day 8/14 “WHO” Writing 5 minutes – “Cyclist” I was leading the middle pack of racing cyclists up the steep hill. Suddenly, one of the front-runners crashed to the pavement, causing a number of us to crash and pile up over him. My bike was ruined! The tire bent. Would my crew be able top fix it? Would I e able to finish the race? The tension was thick as several other biker’s felt the same
