Dreamkeepers
It all started when Hayat began to remember. They were barely a year old then, just beginning to learn how to talk. The first word they ever spoke was “ayaw,” meaning “no” in Filipino. In fact, Hayat would grow up saying or demonstrating this all the time whenever they felt uncomfortable.

Rainy Days, Mondays, and the Best Brussels Experience
I traveled to Europe for the first time in the first week of December 2019 and stayed for about ten days. The first week was dedicated to professional work as a media person for a youth leadership conference (which you can read right here). This is important for context, because I never would have had the opportunity to travel to Europe without my writing.

Movie Review: Under Parallel Skies - A Simple Yet Profound Romance. Top Story - May 2024.
Life hits us when we least expect it, but that doesn’t mean the experience cannot be enjoyable. To paraphrase the protagonists of Under Parallel Skies, life happens in these little transitions.

My 15-year-old Self'sThoughts on Love
In high school, specifically during my third year, our English adviser, Miss Victoria, asked us to write an essay about love. We were required to incorporate quotes to support our ideas. Before this assignment, I had never written about love, but my perspective on it has remained consistent throughout my life. If there's anything I would add to this discussion, it is this: You have to love and accept yourself at all stages of your life because love comes from within.

Pas de Deux
When the applause and cheers subsided, and the dancers bowed after a majestic performance of Swan Lake, young Carmila distinctly recalled the pact she and her twin sister Carmina had made. Watching Swan Lake, the eight-year-old girls decided that one day they, too, would be part of a grand production. Carmina aspired to be the principal dancer, while Carmila envisioned designing the tutus and, perhaps, even the entire stage. She had always excelled more in the arts than her twin.

It's Impossible to Disconnect from Reality While Watching 'The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes'
Coriolanus Snow said the whole world is an Arena, and we need the games to remind us of what we are and what we’re capable of. It’s hard to disconnect from reality when the fictional world reflects it so vividly.

Critique Wanted: A Filipino Vampire Story
In my Chapters entry, I explained the need to establish a background and motivation for my heroine, Karmila. I described how her journey would feel incomplete without a story exclusively devoted to her, narrated in her preferred style. This short story is what I envisioned in my mind's eye back in 2016 while waiting for the bus to commence a long journey, including crossing the ocean, on my way back home. I am seeking critique and advice. To gain a deeper understanding of Karmila's character, I recommend reading this: Memoirs of a Vampire: A Background
