Bio
I've published 8 books, with the latest, "Stop Rewind Fast Forward: 1992" arriving in August 2022. Though having finished a bunch more, they are all in such state of disrepair that I'm sorting through the carnage as we speak.

"Tales of a Scorched Coffee Pot"
Everything was cool up until the summer that Liberty Avenue closed. More specifically the morning where it first occurred to many of them that maybe this company was no longer on the upswing. Their acting owner has just called a meeting, to announce the shuttering of their original location, which somehow endured in this town, in a beleaguered, not exactly great spot, from the late 1970s up until now. And also, oh yeah, that their president, Duane Hatley, who had received the news earlier than his employees, had just chosen to tender his resignation as well.

"Tales of a Scorched Coffee Pot"
Failing the price audit up Lorena, though, now this is Edgar's responsibility. However, even in this instance, he feels the bosses' thinking on this is mighty muddled. Regarding one or two of them, he would even go as far as to say it is willfully muddled – they are making a concerted effort to frame things this way, because it matches the agenda they are determined to push.

Tales of a Scorched Coffee Pot
For some reason you simply cannot disabuse most upper managers of the notion that they know the finer points of your job better than you do, despite their having never done it before. This even with the obvious, glaring fact that they plainly don’t understand what you’re talking about most of the time, when you begin speaking about those finer points of your job. A notion also underscored when drilling down into the reason that gossips and other assorted complainers hold such sway over these types — it’s because the bosses have no idea what’s going on. They cling to this informational pipeline as one would a life raft. It’s enough to make most rational people say, or at least wish to say, do you believe that I do my job very well? Okay, then, leave me alone and let me do it as I see fit. Otherwise, let’s cut to the chase and get this over with. Just go ahead and replace me.

Random Old Photo of the Day:
Though this picture is “only” about 50 years old, in some respects it feels as distant as the Civil War. Many of the family members from this era are still alive — some in the photo, some not — and yet there’s been some debate about who a couple of these people are anyway. From the outset I felt that I only recognized two (despite being Facebook friends with two others beyond that, and knowing one of them quite well, as it turned out), and was born probably a couple of years after this photo was taken. So I expected to be surprised. But the older family members not even recognizing some of their own, that has been kind of a trip.
