Not Built For This
I wasn't born to be a victim of the 9 to 5 system, I'm tired of supervisors telling me to sit down and listen, I used to dream big but now I don't remember those visions, Nothing wrong with being an everyday citizen, But I feel it in my heart like something is missing, Clocking in seems a waste of the talent I was given, I wrestle with myself inside my head, My confidence backed into a corner by doubt and dread, So I end up hiding in bed, Having anxiety attacks when I should be writing instead, Nobody sees the blood that I've bled, Nobody wipes away the tears that I've shed, I know the way that I feel isn't the norm, But deep inside I don't want to conform, I just want to live life and do my own thing, For once I wanna do something besides fight through the pain, Tired of living from paycheck to paycheck, Work myself to death to just barely pay rent, For once can it just be money well spent, I just want to be independent, I just want to feed my family, I have no malicious intent, I'll buy a used car and a modest house, I don't need fame, glory, or clout, Those superficial dreams is not what I'm about, I just want to take the higher route, I just want to defeat the demons of fear and doubt, I just want to make it and figure my life out, I'm going to remain positive, because this is my life and I'll choose how to live it, I will take the talent that I've been given, I'll work with it until I find what's missing, I'll stay on my grind, I'll stay focused and driven, I'll pour my heart out to whoever will listen, I'll do as I please I don't need their permission, I'm tired of always giving up, always coming in last and I've had enough, When I'm rich I wont forget where I came from, From now on I won't quit until the games won.

The Thin Blue Line
He slips on his uniform he straps on his gun, his wife kneels beside him and hopes this isn't the one, She hopes this isn't the shift where he doesn't come home, She hopes she wont be a widow, left all alone, She hopes that her daughter wont have to walk her self down the aisle, hopes her daddy will be there to see her beautiful smile, She hopes her daughter wont have to see her daddy on trial, She hears the awful rhetoric on Corporate news, She cries herself to sleep after hearing their views, She is filled with terror when he's the slightest bit late, Every time it happens she fears it's the day, He tries to comfort his beautiful bride, But every time he clocks in he's risking his life, The truth is he is also scared that today he might die, Sometimes they fight and argue because of the danger, Sometimes he perceives her concern as genuine anger, he understands the heights of her anxiety, Being an officers spouse can be frightening, But not as scary as being in the drivers seat, Because no matter what they say, no stop is ever routine, It isn't all about shooting and making arrests, Or high speed chases or physical tests, Sometimes they see the worst of the worst, They see the dead before they're embalmed and roll away in a hearse, They're tasked with delivering bad news, Scraping up remains, and keeping kids out of gang crews, They're obligated to take on the danger, Literally their job to take bullets for strangers, Yet all they hear from us is anger, Every day I see officers get demonized, Like they aren't seen as human lives, They take our calls, They hear our cries, I'll keep them in my heart and support them with pride, For I know they are the divide in between the good and evil side, Between civility and crime, They are my heroes, Those who walk The Thin Blue Line.

The War That Never Ends
Somber skies and children's cries, thick black smoke fills my eyes, how did I end up here, In this desert hell for more than a year, every step I take, I take with fear, Around every corner danger looms, never knowing when I'll meet my doom, like my battle buddies now entombed, Thank the lord now I'm on my way, back to the U.S.A., where I'll finally find sunny days, I thought that I could get back to my life, but the nightmares keep me up at night, I'm home now but still I fight, In my head the war never stops, the bullets whiz, the bodies drop, in my nostrils the stench of decay and rot, I'm startled by the slightest sound, something breaks I hit the ground, living like this is like being drowned, Every day the pain gets worse, why must I feel this hurt, why must I have the soldiers curse, I served you and served you well, won't you save me from my hell, I'm in pain but you can't tell. I suffer in agony and silence, my mind a victim of wartime violence, my demons have now grown into giants, please just take my hand, even if, you don't understand, please do the best you can, I'm not a machine just a person, please see that I'm hurting, around every corner my demons lurking, I just want to feel some peace, to go to bed and actually sleep, to wake up and not have to weep, please God save me, please dear God won't you set my mind free, for once can't I just be me?

Dear Government
This country is experiencing turmoil like never before in American history and information and lack thereof are being weaponized against its citizens. If you watch what use to be News on any network these days you'll no doubt find more poorly written biased opinions than any actual useful information. Politics are not what they used to be and it's doing only 100% harm to the nation. See, even without being educated in politics I can still tell you that politicians of today are weak and blind to real issues. You see what we have now is just a "Whose better?" type approach to politics but in a two party system that approach has a 100% failure rate, it only causes division and should be immediately abandoned. The two parties respectfully disagreeing and then working on a compromise is literally the foundation of our political system. Our politicians have forgotten that they are for the people and now just use their platforms to diss each other like 6th grade bullies rather than to improve the country. Only once they realize this and come back together will this country heal from the gaping wounds their division has caused. We must find a way to remind politicians that they work for us and we want their division antics put to rest for good. We want Unity we want to come together, we want to see The United States of America to be United again. Now the hard part is getting people who thrive on hate and division to step out and see that they are being played. It's irrelevant whether your Democrat or Republican left or right if you hate the other side its because politicians and irresponsible media reporting got inside your head and turned you against your fellow Americans. For example if you're the type of person who would help someone change a flat tire are you going to ask them their political affiliation before helping? I didnt think so. That is because we are humans first political arguments are there to keep us blind and divided. I use to be guilty of this I hated liberals because the media kept telling me they all had these radical stances against conservatives and it fueled my hate. What woke me up was talking to actual Liberals or leftists what ever label you choose to use. Alot more than you think are willing to debate and most hate censorship but you wouldnt know it listening to the news on either side. We need to stop allowing media to damage our thought process just to harvest views and votes. Our media has a responsibility to report facts only and not present them in a way that makes any one group of people feel alienated. As a young American I'm embarrassed by the weakness of our politicians. Even other countries have taken note of our weaknesses and that's not good for us. We must realize that we are human first and our opinions are not facts. We all tend to believe that it should be the way we want it without considering the fact other side. I've had to remove preconceived ideas of what those who differ from me politically really want. We have a responsibility to do better at putting ourselves in others positions and seeing another point of view. What we have now is a dangerous rift in our political system that neither side is capable of healing alone and that's not good for anyone in the middle or lower classes of society. While social media has done alot to connect us as humans to each other, its recently become a much more toxic environment where people spew hate and opinions that they would never say to another person in real life. These toxic arguments create a subconscious level of anger against those we disagree with and that seed of hate grows until we find ourselves prisoners of our own hate. Society as a whole is going to fail because as technology grows we lose more and more of our humanity. As young children and young adults we saw many films and read many books about zombies and usually it was a virus or other contagion that sparked the zombie apocalypse. However my belief is that we are becoming zombies because were losing more human interaction day by day as technology grows. For me personally I'd rather go back to talking to people face to face, no screen involved. It's very easy to spread negativity and hate this way. Humanity is in danger of being over run mentally by it's own creations, which ironically were designed to bring people together. Try to separate yourself from these divisive narratives and think as a human first. Loving one another and not taking excuses from the government when they fail is how we move forward. Dear Government please come back together compromise and heal before it's too late for all of us.
