There are some nights meant to be dark and stormy, to fit the mood of the reader and the tone of the events destined to happen. A dark and stormy night is a powerful metaphor. One can liken the personality of a particularly shifty individual to that of a rainstorm, or can provide in the story an obstacle to overcome.

They don't tell you about the birds, or the bikers, or the beers the size of my head. They don't tell you about sunsets or peacocks or grass so green and so unending, it feels like living in a place that requires asking permission from nature to stay.

The mirror showed a reflection that wasn’t my own. I have that written on my gravestone. It’s a tradition in my town to put someone’s last words on their gravestone. But they bungled it up. They fixed the grammar.
