The Dominion, Part One: Gods. Content Warning.
From the top of Central Tower Cassandra White could look out over the whole of the Dominion. Her Dominion. A grin spread slowly across her lips, stopping well short of her eyes, as a fire flared somewhere far below. It’s yellowish orange glow shining small as lights on a festival tree among the glittering sea of white pinpricks beneath her feet. One more slum up in smoke.

Adolescent Odyssey
I don’t remember the first book I ever read, but the first one I recall having read to me was a favourite of my mother. Coincidentally, it’s a favourite of mine, though I think we’ll skip the philosophical discussion about indoctrination for another time. The Hobbit, by J.R.R. Tolkien, is a wonderful book, but not the one I want to talk about today.

A Touch Of The Fey. Top Story - August 2023.
Music rose from the depths of the glen. A beautiful, soft sort of music like the gentle patter of rain on summer leaves. This music calls to those who wander by, drawing them into the glen if they, as my mamo used to say, have a touch of the fey about them. Calling them into the gentle shade of the overhanging trees where the music will speak to them, if they can hear it.

For Whom the Whistle Blows. Top Story - August 2023.
You awake alone on a train with trees drifting slowly by outside. You sit in the window seat, in the first row, facing forward. Looking behind yourself, you see that every seat stretching back to the door is empty, light that does not shine glittering in the eyes of people who are not there. It is dark in the car, the attendant hasn’t been seen for hours, and the only light comes from a perfectly full moon in a clear, cloudless sky.

A Forest of Thorns
King Hubert stands at the large window in his bed chamber, watching as the sun sinks slowly towards the horizon. It is one of his lucid days, one of few the Divine sees fit to grant him, and worry twists his gut. Years ago, when the enchanted sickness had first begun to take his faculties, Hubert abdicated his throne to his son Florian; now during his lucid moments, he often stares at the horizon, thoughts full of the past.
