Out of Darkness
The cabin in the woods had been abandoned for years, but one night, a candle burned in the window. When I was younger, we lived in a house that looked out on pasture land. Cows, goats, and horses grazed on the pasture near a lake. It was ideal for raising a young family. My sister and I used to bounce on our trampoline, run through garden sprinklers in August heat, and dodge the occasional copperhead or water moccasin snake.

Illuminated Shadows Ch.2
Chapter Two I could not open my eyes, but I felt every muscle in my body scream out in pain as if I had been tossed off a cliff and left for dead. I tried once more to open my eyes, and then I finally opened one eyelid, then the other followed. My vision blurred, and I did not recognize my surroundings. I put my head back down on the pillow as I felt the bile rise in my throat from my spinning vision. My hand went to my head, and it felt hot and wet. I knew I had a fever, but I could not bring my voice to make a sound.

Illuminated Shadows Ch.3
Chapter Three 'My name is Luna, and as of 5 hours ago, I was sent to kill you. Now I am here to protect you.' I could not get these words out of my head. It was like a whirlwind of information that had just been dumped into my lap. I remember those last words before I lapsed into darkness, but now I am looking at the figure before me. Watching her was an enigma. She seemed so innocent when she slept but dangerous no matter how enchanting she looked in sleep.

Sight
Sight A stale, foul odor rose from the little lagoon in the middle of my paradise. The wind picks up and wafts away the awful stench of algae and decay, only to be replaced by the sweet smell of German Chamomile, Plumeria, and Oak. The mixture inflamed my senses. I drank in this welcome aroma in tall glasses as I reached back to my faraway home. I drifted in the limbo of time to when I was a little girl sitting on sandy beaches.

Artist's Scope
There weren't always dragons in the Valley… Helios was beautiful with crisp air and partly sunny skies. The sun peeked through heavy grey clouds as they swept over the afternoon sky. For Tobias Morana, the Chancellor's son, the day shone brighter than most. The citizens crowded the square for an announcement that could change history.
