Dreaming in Lavender
The outside world was unknown to her, but she could see a glimpse of it through the window in his room. A vast landscape of desert sand rippled like waves on the rocky landscape as stars began to twinkle in the lavender sky. Two moons shone bright in the darkening skyline. The air on this planet wasn’t breathable to humans, but they had decided to put a small station on this planet for scientific discovery and research.

Say Hello To My Little Friends
My love for books started at an early age. I remember my parents reading bedtime stories to me at night as part of our bedtime routine. I grew up in the Eighties (cough, cough) and we didn’t have much, but we did have children’s books. Remarkably, I still have some of those books today, the ones I loved. Looking at the copyright on some of these books now, I get the sense that a lot of them might have been passed down. They are little treasures from my past. They remind me of simpler times and of hope. Of feeling safe and loved. Of discovering new worlds through words and pictures. Of precious times where I had the total attention of my parents.

The Awakened
I hunched behind the abandoned car, not daring to move a muscle. I focused hard at the dark, shadowed corner where I knew Jarrod hid. The coldness seeped into my lungs as I inhaled the night air, chest moving in a calm and controlled rhythm, soundless. When the coldness came, they came. A glint of metal flashed as Jarrod shifted. My heart paused, hoping against all hope, they hadn’t seen it. My energy field wanted to lash out, protect itself from their coldness. Instead, I pulled it into my center and locked it away in that secret place inside. They could sense any emotion. They fed from it, after all.
