A happy ending after the nasty tester

Nah, I win

By The travelerPublished 10 days ago 1 min read

The day of my driving test was approaching and my nerves were on edge. I'd heard stories about nasty examiners who enjoy failing students, and I was afraid I'd end up in the crosshairs of one of them.

Fate smiled upon me... ominously. My examiner turns out to be an old man with piercing eyes, sour countenance and voice, emerging from the tomb. His every question sounds like an accusation, and every remark like a death sentence.

The first part of the exam - the theory - passed without a problem. I knew the rules like the back of my head. But when practice came, the nasty old man every perked up. He gives me impossible tasks, makes me drive in tight traffic and criticizes my every move.

I felt like I was fighting a hurricane. My hands were shaking, sweat was running down my face, and only two thoughts were running through my head: "I'm going to fail him!" and "I won't give up!".

And just when I was on the verge of despair, a miracle happened. The old man, as if noticing my struggle, asked me an unexpected question to which I knew the answer. I answered confidently, with a coolness that seemed to surprise him.

For the first time in the entire exam, I saw a slight change in his face. Kind of like... approval?

After that moment, the exam seemed to turn around. The old man gave me easier tasks, commented on my mistakes in a calmer tone, and finally, in a voice I did not expect, said: "Congratulations, you did well. You can drive."

This story taught me two important lessons:

1-Don't be afraid of difficulties. Even when you face nasty people or circumstances, don't give up. Struggle can bring you unexpected victories.

2-Sometimes the most unexpected people can pleasantly surprise you. Don't be too quick to judge by looks or first impressions.

So, from my driving test I got not only my driver's license, but also a valuable life lesson that I will remember forever.
