If you decide to go camping this summer, then you will want to read this before you choose your ideal destination. With so many camping choices it is often hard to decide where you will pitch your tent. However, I have compiled a list of 6 destinations for every camping enthusiast. If you plan on traveling for an extended period of time, then you may want to consider a cargo roof rack to haul your belongings around. This will help ensure there is plenty of space inside your vehicle, and allows everyone to ride more comfortably from one destination to the next.

If you find yourself in California this summer, then you will definitely want to check out Lake Isabella. We spent 2 weeks at this lake nestled in the mountains, and the views were amazing. There is minimal light pollution, so the stars shine very bright in the night. There are no showers, but you can easily bring along a shower bag. The water is very exhilarating, because the lake is filled by the snow melts of the surrounding mountains. If you are brave, then you may enjoy a little rock jumping. There are bathrooms, as well as water to help you enjoy your stay. This spot is great for people who love to fish, swim, or simply hang out in a hammock for the day. There is a town less than 1 mile away that offers restaurants, grocery stores, and even hotels.

Another great camping location can be found in Arkansas. The Ozark National Forest is full of beaches, multiple lakes, and what seems like endless hiking trails. Do not be surprised if you find yourself looking upon a majestic waterfall or strolling along a rapid moving creek. There are over 20 different developed campgrounds, so you will have no problem finding a place that will suit your needs. Arkansas would be an ideal camping destination for any lover of hiking, fishing, biking, or white water rapid enthusiast.

If you would rather camp in the northern states of America to avoid the extreme heat of summer, then Michigan is the perfect place for you to visit. Ludington State Park is very affordable, and there is something for the entire family. Here you will get the chance to take a sunset stroll down the beach, kayak or jet ski throughout the day, and even play among the sand dunes. There is ample hiking throughout the marshlands and forests, so you will certainly get the chance to enjoy the relaxation nature has to offer.

This destination is a bit more frigid, but the views are definitely worth it for any stargazer. The Denali National Park and Preserve located in Alaska is far from any light pollution. This means you have the chance to see amazing auroras, the brightest stars, and any space activity in the night sky. I doubt you will want to take a dip in the frigid waters of Wonder Lake, but I am sure the reflection from the stars is enough inspiration for any artist to create a masterpiece.

If you want to hike the oldest and longest hiking trail in the United States, then you will have to make your way to Green Mountain National Forests in Vermont. It will be necessary to arrive with all of the supplies you will need for your trip, because there are no dump station or electrical hookups. This is one of the very few camping destinations that offer free camping and entry into the park. You also have the ability to camp anywhere in the park, unless it is posted otherwise. Be prepared to enjoy some of the most stunning views you will look upon in your lifetime while visiting this park.

Last but not least, Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Park in California is a magical place every family should visit. You will definitely feel tiny while walking among these massive trees. This is a place that will spark the imagination of any person young or old. When the sun goes down the shadows of the trees are a sight to see. You will want to check for availability before making this trip, because many people reserve their spot months in advance. There is plenty of hiking, and you have the ability to pitch your tent anywhere you decide within the park.

It really does not matter where you choose to camp this summer. Just make sure you prepare in advance; always bring water, food, and a place to put your trash. It is important to remember whatever you pack in, you pack out. This means do not leave your trash behind. It is the responsibility of each traveler to ensure they are doing their part to keep the parks clean for everyone to enjoy.
