As for the popular phrase "You are what you eat," it allegedly makes us recall healthy skin, colorful fruits and veggies, tons of energy, and similar stuff after a week of eating only kale salads and quinoa bowls. While this statement sounds a bit old-fashioned, is there a truth in it?

The Feel-Good Fuel Formula

Absolutely! The food we consume is the fuel that travels through our bodies and provides the energy we need to stay active. This is exactly what happens when you fill up your tank with high-octane fuel in your car- you get more speed and energy due to the best ingredients for your body.

This leads to more endurance, a good immune system, and better feelings overall. Think of it like this: the point when you eat nutrient-rich food, your body is happy and through this, you show it on the outside with healthy and glowing skin!

Beyond the Plate: A Posture of Neutrality

But here's the thing: "You are what you eat" can be approached metaphorically or symbolically. We’re not just walking talking cheeseburgers (that would be a fun superpower!), we are walking representatives of a sustainable and ethical business.

Our health and appearance are a result of a complex combination of factors some of which are genes, how we sleep, how we exercise, and our current stress levels. In sum, a balanced diet plays a crucial role but it is not all that matters when it comes to optimizing health.

Let's Get Real: Food & Fun.

Life is too limited taking you to strange diets, which substitute healthy foods with the boring ones with no need. Balance is everything! Occasional treat eating or letting of a cultural food event can be a part of a healthy lifestyle.

The main thing is to maintain a balance where you mainly fuel your body with wholesome foods, but also have the flexibility to give yourself some leeway to enjoy some of the not-so-healthy snacks.

For me, what we eat speaks for us more than what we say.

Though it may seem so, it is far from the truth. But, what you eat does make a notable difference in how you feel and you look. Focus on healthy choices the great majority of the time, however, don't stop to think about those treats of yours –– it's a fabulous tasty journey, remember?
