Yearning

A childless mother's wish

Dear husband,

I saw yet another announcement this morning,

Such love for something so small and unformed,

They're living my dream and I hate it.

Recently we've been close,

As in love as we have ever been even after a decade,

Counting on each other always,

Truly, the times we have together are cherished. And yet,

It's a distraction from my deepest, most desperate dream,

One announcement, one scan, one tiny beating heart,

No longer waiting for my life's purpose, waiting for you to be ready.
