Yeah, I’m one of those “Starbucks girls”
The one who jumps for joy over a PSL
Whose in a sweater on the first day of fall
Crunching leaves beneath my feet.
Sipping my hot coffee and reading a book!
Yeah, I’m one of those “lazy girls”
Who’d rather be napping in a pillow fort
Reading on the couch than on a run.
Watching movies on the couch
Snuggling under pills of blankets, with tea.
Yeah, I’m one of those “basic girls”
Applying my red lipstick and smoky eye
Trying the next seasons big trend.
Jumping from social platform to the next
Listening to another indie band.
Yeah I’m one of those “mental girls”
The one whose disorder shadows her life.
Who goes from laughing to crying
Who can’t control her emotions
And is having another breakdown
Yeah, I’m one of those girls….
But so what? I like those things.
And if it makes me happy. Yeah. I am one of those girls!
And I’m proud of it.
Because one of those girls frankly is me.

His Haibun
He does not like poetry; I write it anyway and do not tell him. It's true his face is not a poet's face. It is round and open, youthful; too apt to be compared to the sun. His nose is neat. It is impossible to imagine him smoking a cigarette, terse, full of cheekbones and tension. His warmth burns my fingertips. I am here for his fascinating body, the haphazard freckles I touch one by one; he is here for my eyes, just my eyes. A sunbeam sneaks through the curtains and pierces us both, sizzling the spices of his skin. I inhale and wrap myself in him. He kisses my eyes.
