I hear the sounds inside my head

I feel them in my heart

Straining at the cage of me

A fight lost from the start

Crushed to dust by stones of doubt

Choked by fear and rage

Twisted, tangled, torn apart

Lying dead upon the stage

Escape they seek but cannot find

So torture me instead

Words of beauty, grace and power

That only live inside my head

sad poetry
