Where the sunflowers grow,

is where you rest your bones.

Your body no longer aches

your breath isn’t quick in your chest.

You’re free from the pain of today,

sleeping sweet in the roots of tomorrow.

I wonder if you can dream in that rich soil,

but I’m grateful you’re finally at rest.

The light in your eyes has dimmed,

but I’ll never forget they way they glowed.

I’ll remember you for when you made me smile,

that was when you were truly at your best.

Where the sunflowers grow,

you are finally safe and absolutely free.

Protected from the weight of the world

in your sunflower root nest.
