Where there is violence,

There shall be no peace.

The stars watch in silence.

~

The powerful pretense,

The great bomb that frees,

Where there is violence.

~

Children learn vigilance,

Their prayers never cease.

The stars watch in silence.

~

Lost souls air grievance,

They know no release

Where there is violence.

~

Dire luminescence

Dark chemistries,

The stars watch in silence.

~

Peacefulness from turbulence,

Woeful ironies,

Where there is violence,

The stars watch in silence.

~

~

Where there is grace,

The air carries love.

The sun shows its face.

~

A radiant space,

Like heaven above,

Where there is grace.

~

No fears debase,

Free flies the dove,

The sun shows its face.

~

Peace quells the blaze,

Rescues the grove,

Where there is grace.

~

Boughs will enlace,

Deep green above,

The sun shows its face.

~

Souls will embrace

Each other in love.

Where there is grace,

The sun shows its face.

I really like how the metre sounds like a march to war and then to freedom. Great job. ❤️✌️

This is so profound. My wish for 2024 is for all wars to end. The Russian-Ukrainian war has a deep personal effect on me and I’m trying to do everything I can to contribute to its end.

I just started reading The Essential Mozi and this reminded me of that book by Chris Fraser.

    Beautifully written!!! Loved it!!!❤️❤️💕

  • Beautifully expressed, painfully true (the first villanelle), & absolutely vital (the second villanelle).

  • Your first Villanelle was so tragic and poignant but your second one was so positive and powerful! I loved them!
