Vanished with Quite the Trace

RIP Daddy (an Abecedarian Tribute)

Acceptance is not easy,

But necessary, nonetheless.

Children often have a hero, and

Daddy, you were mine…

Empowering me, preparing me

For the beautiful chaos of life.

Grief is inevitable,

Happiness is not a fixed state, and

Innocence is only temporary.

Just like that, life as I knew it changed.

Knowing I needed guidance, I read the

Letter you had waiting…

My favorite piece of advice was

No one is as good as they seem,

Or as bad as they seem.”

Perception and perspective are vital,

Quite like the impact you left on me.

Resiliency is also vital,

Something you taught me

Through both your actions and words.

Undeniably gone physically, yet

Vanished with quite the trace…

When I need to find you, it’s easy.

‘X’ marks the spot.

You live eternally in one realm…

ZZZ zzz…I’ll see you in my dreams. 💤

*This piece is dedicated to my loving “Diddy.”

April 21 1963-January 30 2010

I will never forget how lucky I was to have you physically by my side, even if it was short lived, and I will always remember that you never fully left my side. You merely changed forms.
