To the First Boy I’ve Loved

In a Way that I Will Never Love Anyone Again

They all tell sad stories

About their virginity

And how they lost it

How the moment

Was tinged with uncertainty

How he couldn’t even kiss right

And his fingers were in the wrong places.

I didn’t lose mine

Because I gave it to you.

I knew I wanted to

The second your wild green eyes

Bloodshot with dope

Met mine

And I saw me inside that abyss.

I never thought you’d want me.

I guess you were high enough.

Or maybe when you looked into my innocent eyes

You saw you, too.

The moment your rough fingers

Tore my shirt off

My skin burned

And I knew.

You lit my first spliff

And you didn’t laugh when I coughed.

You didn’t deserve my innocence

I served you on a silver platter

My pure little body

Entangled in your dark arms.

Your tongue tasted of freedom

Your breath was tinged with whiskey

Breathing life into my soul.

I miss you.

You’ve asked me to forget you

Because I was just another one to you.

I said I will.

I lied.

Because I never will.

To the first and only boy I’ve ever loved

In a way I will never love anyone again.
