These Things

We collect.

By Kristy LoxtonPublished 7 years ago 1 min read

one sharpened pencil point.

one unfathomed dress.

a million notes on your fingers.

three cloves of garlic and a tablespoon of olive oil in a silver pan.

ten shades of blue-gray under a desert sun (your eyes).

five perfect oils, purified and distilled.

eleven thoughts of memory.

six empty brown glasses of I.P.A.

fifteen lives before.

two, or maybe three, ahead.

fifty-thousand times you kissed me.
