Finding Our Place in the World

We are born into a world of expectation

From the moment we take our first breath

We are expected to be someone, to do something

To make a mark on this life before we leave for death

Some of us are born into privilege and wealth

With expectations as high as the sky

While others are born into poverty and struggle

With expectations just to survive

We carry the weight of expectation

As we navigate this world with care

Sometimes we feel lost and alone

Wondering if we’ll make it anywhere

But somewhere along the way, we realize

That the burden of expectation can be a gift

For it forces us to dig deep and find

The strength and courage to uplift

To find our own place in this world

And to make our own paths to follow

To be brave enough to take the road less traveled

And to chase our dreams with a passion that’s hallowed

It may not be easy, this journey we’re on

But we must carry on, no matter the cost

For the weight of expectation is just a test

Of the fire burning within us, waiting to be lost

So let us rise to the challenge

And let our hearts lead the way

For finding our place in this world

Is the greatest gift we can give each day.
