The Unspoken Love: Echoes in the Night

A Poetic Journey through Dreams, Longing, and Fate's Unyielding Hold

By Carl GoffPublished about a year ago 1 min read

In the stillness of the night, I pondered about you...

Awakening to the dawn, I found you nowhere in view...

Beside the river I linger, on stones worn smooth,

Where daylight surrenders to twilight's tender truth.

I gaze at the moon, veiled in mist, embracing the heavens high,

Why couldn't that celestial dance be shared by you and I?

At times, I feel you're meant to be mine...

And I come to understand,

In my dreams, you're forever intertwined.

I believed we harmonized like a perfect song...

We were destined to be united, all along...

It should have been us.

Yet here I stand, disbelieving still,

As fate took a different turn, against our will.

In the shadows of twilight, I whisper your name,

The wind carries my words, but it's not the same.

With every heartbeat, I feel the ache,

Longing for a love that was never ours to take.

In the solitude of my thoughts, I envision our dance,

A waltz beneath the stars, entranced in romance.

But reality, relentless, pulls me back to the ground,

As I search for solace in the silence that surrounds.

I have resigned to this fate, it seems we're worlds apart,

Yet the ember of our love still flickers in my heart.

I'll cherish the memories, like petals of a rose,

Preserving the beauty, while the thorns of sorrow grow.

For the love we shared, in the realm of dreams,

Bears the weight of reality, where love's not what it seems.

In the quiet of the night, I'll think of you once more,

Our love a distant echo, a whisper on the shore.

And though we'll never dance beneath the moonlit skies,

I'll hold you in my dreams, with tears in my eyes.

It should have been us, eternally entwined,

But fate intervened, and now you're not mine.

In the stillness of the night, I'll ponder about you,

And in the depths of my soul, I'll forever remain true.
