The time I wasted on you

***

After a long time I came to a realize that some people in life have really good disguise

Not everything is what it looks like first... sometimes it's better to assume the worst.

Neither friendships are perfect... some were born to destroy. They can ruin anyone by playing them like a toy.

If I could have one wish... I want my eight years back. This is the time I wasted on you... and I never gonna get that back.

Value your friends, they say... did I worth anything? Or was it just you who made me think that I'm worth keeping?

End of an era with lots of memories. I can't go back in time and separate friends from enemies.

Reality is harsh, I used to deny what now I clearly state. You made me feel that way, but it was already too late.

Suffer and shame... that's all you could give me. I lied about you and myself for a year nearly.

And all those things we did... was it all fake? were you just using me all along like a snake?

Rotten relationships... they are all around the world... choose your friends carefully, not only respect is earned.

You stole a part of my life... you never helped me... but after all these years I hope you are happy.

A little explanation: It's been almost a year now, since I escaped a harmful "friendship" of mine. We were "best friends" for almost a decade and it was quite hard for me to accept that it's suddenly over. I did not miss the person, I just felt empty and lonely after such a long time. I might have been exaggerating in this poem, but sometimes I just really wanna get back the years I lost on the person, because looking back I feel like it wasn't worth it.

I can totally understand the emotion here. The caveat is apt "Choose your friends carefully," but I also think it needs an addition: And reassess them on a regular. Stuff sneaks up. Best of luck with the challenge!

This sounds like someone loves someone but she is not loved in return.

It’s amazing how often the face of friendship is actually a cleverly constructed mask. Wonderful entry for the anniversary challenge, Anna!

Anna, I related to your story. I have also been through long-term friendships with people who abruptly either stabbed me in the back or turned into an enemy. ONE was a 30 years of friendship. That hurt.
