The Tale of Goon Grazer & The Red Barn

A Haunting Poem

By Jarad MannPublished 3 years ago Updated 3 years ago 3 min read

The tale of the Red Barn I tell you is true,

Surrounded by trees dressed in moss and dew.

Once echoed by sounds of children and laughter,

Followed by the silence that came thereafter.

First a refuge for Fun, Joy and Play,

Later a resting place for death and decay.

Inhabited by the ghost of old Goon Grazer,

Killed by his hand with his own straight razor.

This tale is just beginning, I’m sure you knew,

That the tale of the Red Barn I tell you is true.

Thirty years have passed since the laughter died.

Thirty years passed and the blood’s not dried.

Grazer, a farmer who grew with pride,

Soured many when he took a child bride.

Marked as a villain when she mysteriously died,

In the Old Red Barn he went to hide.

A heavenly corner garnished in greens and gold.

This story in stages begins to unfold.

Fun was fantastic and filled with glee.

Joy liked to joke and lived fancy free.

Play was a pleasure prideful and keen.

Together the three cast a radiant sheen.

Attended their garden with the child bride.

Fun, Joy, and Play cast her fears aside.

Innocence robbed by Grazer in commerce for dower.

His oblivion allowed her to escape the tower.

Then the day came when Goon found his bride missing,

From the tower willed by wicked wishing.

Found in the fields of the Red Barn quizzing.

Fun, Joy, and Play started hissing,

When Grazer blind to the trinity living,

Decided best, a time for killing.

Floating adrift on the River Styx,

To the Fields of Light and a point thats fixed.

Discovered by villagers seeking truth and knowledge,

Hired a Professor from the nearby college.

To the Red Barn was Mister Fuzz led,

In search of the goon the child bride wed.

The greens were fading as gloom took hold,

When not a tear was shed when Goon was told.

Fuzz took note at the absence of reaction,

As Fun, Joy, and Play exposed Grazer’s infraction.

Fun showed Fuzz how hard she fought,

The child bride’s life drained for naught.

Joy was grieving and stuck in thought,

As Play prayed for the goon to be caught.

That Grazer was guilty he need not be taught,

At the Red Barn this horror was brought.

Cries for justice rang out through the wind,

A storm of dark magic was spawned from the sin.

After innocent blood was spilled on the ground,

Fun, Joy, and Play in their tears sadly drown.

And with their end the Red Barn came to life,

Trapping Goon Grazer for killing his wife.

Overcast skies moved in where once blue,

Draining the life from the moss and dew.

The case he thought closed, so Mister Fuzz went,

Back to his home to rest and repent.

From inside the barn Goon Grazer’s shriek came,

The sound of the Devil staking his claim.

Throughout the town they heard the name,

Goon Grazer, Goon Grazer died with shame.

His soul was tortured his mind was maimed.

Slit his own throat and burned in the flame.

And now to this day when a child nears by,

The Red Barn sounds like a dead man’s cries.

The ghost of Goon Grazer haunting the land,

Damned for eternity, for it was his hand,

That ended his life in an insane manor.

When the Red Barn beat his brain with a hammer.

Fun, Joy, and Play one day will return.

When the Red Barn no longer needs to burn,

The soul of Goon Grazer for having lied,

About having killed his child bride.

And thus we conclude this tale I swear true.

With one more twist just for you.

Fuzz is thy name whom admit magic through,

Into this realm that once was blue.

That is why and how I knew,

The Tale of Goon Grazer and The Red Barn true.
