The Real Mother Goose

A Book Review Haiku

By Emma Kate ColemanPublished 11 months ago 1 min read

Sing-song bedtime tales

you can count on every night

to keep her dreams sweet.

-

Poems with a beat

for her to bounce along to

in crisscross dad lap.

-

Drawings that she will

want tattooed of Jack Nimble

so she can't forget.

-

And cadence she will

keep poised on her pen and tongue

long after you're gone.

-

This poem was written in response to the #BookReviewHaiku challenge issued by Judey Kalchik.

So sweet, and evokes such memories of nighttime stories. As a bookseller- I knew the classic Mother Goose with the illustrations you show, would be a sure-fire gramma suggestion for a new baby, too!

Great choice for a book. I loved it too. A book of nursery rhymes is really just a child’s first poetry collection, isn’t it? Your collection of haikus tells such a sweet tale.

  • Oh this was excellent! Loved your Haiku-reviews!
