The Rain

1.15.24

By Katrina ThornleyPublished 6 months ago 1 min read

The rain sprinkled

Then poured,

Opening the sky

With its forgotten power

A demon in the night

Dragging earth with it

Creating a path of destruction

As it danced with the wind

Yanking tree and branch

Stabbing earth with skyline disruption-

Flooding before the recession-

Mother Nature intent on cleansing

Washing away the pollution

Caving in her walls

Turning her oceans sick

And turning her inhabitants sour-

The rain came as predicted

But not believed,

Turning cities and towns

Into isolated islands

As humanity rushed like rodents

Below the clouds

Searching for a solution to the problems

Caused by angered earth,

Not once taking a moment

To contemplate their part

In Earth’s expression.

    Stabbing earth- powerful language.

  • The cleansing power of rain, especially when it turns it angry.
