The Power of Tears
Tears are what it means to be human.
The tears we cry are a sign of strength. Not of weakness. Tears are the silent act of unspeakable love and contrition; to celebrate in times of joy and to mourn in times of sorrow.
Tears release the stress and anxiety in our bodies, our guide which gives us the strength to pick up the broken pieces and move forward, if only for a moment.
This is the power of tears.
Tears are what it means to be human.
For holding back our tears, will only deepen our wounds while scars are fresh and go unhealed. Society is our unforgiving and irresponsible teacher. The one that preaches, "hush now, everything is alright." We are grown and no longer babes. We are told that it is not okay to cry. To do so we are considered dumb and weak. So we do as instructed and let the demons in. We drink, do drugs, or resort to violence to take back our power. But this is not power; this is what it means for men and women to be weak.
Tears are what allow us to feel and let the positive flood of truth be told, when we are at a loss for words. Tears allow us to speak without saying a word. Tears allow us to heal.
This is the power of tears.
Tears should never be feared, for the tears we cry are what it means to be human. To cry means to never live in vain.
This is the power of tears.
