It’s impossible to keep
Under the floor, we should not sweep
A strategic sporting plan ever so sweet
Cooling off, the summer global heat
Medal here
Throwing the javelin spear
Later enjoying German beer
Maybe French bread
No one is reported dead
Only athletes performing their international best
Battling their well-trained competitive test
As they talk
And walk
Strutting the peaceful march
Runner’s parch
Fast they go
Presenting an entertaining show
For all to know
Their names
Playing the five interlocking ring games
Returning home
Not alone
Or in a box
Instead, just having sweaty sox
Needing a wash
With Mother exclaiming, “gosh’
“What is this?”
Just a welcoming home kiss
For a job well done
Engaging in diplomatic fun
Even know you did not win
No one needed to call the next of kin
For an immature decision
Made during the all-important invading mission
Ordered from above
Instigated by hate, not love
One day when doing reflection
Debating power play addiction
Good times you will remember
Instead of burying, those who were dismembered
