He really focuses on her . . .

He paints lipstick all the rage

as she grins, pausing

for the train to come

to get them

& take them some place

else.

He's brought his darling

a cut of pizza,

which she eats while

focusing profoundly.

He talks delicately

as far as she might be concerned, while she focuses

just so.

Her eyes skate off

in different headings, landing

on lifeless thing;

The vacant seat across

the stage,

on the opposite side

a garbage can, not

excessively far away;

shiny new shoes.

The two couples plan

for later, as though

in the event that were a commitment,

Furthermore, their commitments fall

on ears so ready for anything

they need eyes to flicker off of

while their lips develop full and clammy.

Ok! That fantastic look

where all affection stows away;

The empty gaze

a steady gaze

Into where everything of secret

uncovers itself in the case

of a second,

before Reality once more.

Furthermore, there's the string and string

that ties every one of us!

For however we see

Love to be;

It is right there, in the haziest spot —

In the splendid wide light,
