the melancholy of freedom

not confused, but conflicted

grasping for chains in place of inspiration

cant see a way out of the darkness, and

it takes us there away from lighter places

estranged from even our ability to live

how dirty does my yard appear from there

foundationless support doomed to fail

the story we tell ourselves to make it okay

keep everyone waiting for another day

that would be just fine if that day ever came

i never should have said something else

it'll never be a good time to face your ghosts

so they will haunt you as long as they can

this side over here has greener pastures, and

thank all your lucky stars for a challenge
