His smile is soft but sad.
His eyes are warm but empty.
I can sense he’s feeling torn.
No one usually notices him—
But, I do.
Does he notice that I notice him?
It’s hard to tell.
Sometimes I just want to yell—
As loud as I can.
Do you wanna be my man?
But, I’m a little shy.
A little awkward too…
Is it weird to tell him
He looks so good in blue?
I don’t know what to do.
Except wait…
Until he gets the hint!
Oh shit, he’s looking.
Immediately start to squint—
Pretending I can’t see…
He glances and then jumps into the pool!
Splash!
Does he want me to follow?
I begin to walk towards the shallow
End of the water.
We meet somewhere in the middle.
He tells me a riddle.
I laugh—
Just a giggle.
It’s not love at first sight.
Cause we’ve been watching
One another for a while.
Though we swam until night.
I wonder when we’ll have
Our first fight.
Now that I can handle…
But, real love has no room
For a scandal.

A heartwarmingly candid exploration of hesitant love, beautifully capturing the dance of emotions in the push and pull of attraction; it left me feeling a hopeful flutter in my chest...
Childish wonder and excitement, new beginnings, anticipation. Ah, the memories that this brings of time gone by. Maybe time to come. This is such a lovely poem.
Young love. Really shows how people find so much significance in every little moment when they find the right person.
This is so sweet, reminds me of young and innocent days in love.
