The Lark and the Rose

A Song of Love

By Cindy CalderPublished 12 months ago Updated 11 months ago 1 min read

What can I tell you that you do not yet know

Of the love in me that will beat anew

Each time I see the fair glow of your face?

My love for you did leap and grow

When from far away, in the days of the sun,

As the lark did sing and the rose did bud,

I saw you walk into the room.

You did look deep in my core as I lay bare my soul

With the love that I felt,

Much like a soft sigh from my lips.

Tell me that ‘tis true for you also,

That the lark does sing a song of the love

That does fast grow deep in you,

For me, who lies in your full lure.

I will be your love in both hot days of sun

Or cold days of ice and snow

For my love I give to you for more than mere days.

Take it and hold fast, for it is a gift to last the test of time.

Or if not, pity me the fool who will exit from your view

With a full rush of woe for now and even more.
