The Halloween Time Machine

Take a ride to a decade gone by.

Go ahead, look towards the light.

Picture, if you will, a rip in time.

Alone in your room when bells start to chime.

Your walls start to rumble and your bed starts to shake.

Your pictures start to tumble and your head starts to ache.

There’s a hole in the wall, a whole ten feet tall.

The light is so bright you almost lose your sight.

A voice says “enter” and your mind says “obey”. What tricks are these that your mind starts to play?

A beckoning call, a welcoming hand.

“Come see it all, come now, and stand”

Your legs comply as your mind grows numb, your heart shares the rhythm of a kick bass drum.

In all of your dreams,

And all of those scenes,

There has never been anyone inside of the screen.

You reach out and grab the silk covered greeting.

When pulled there’s a pinch, but it’s only just fleeting.

Shadows crowd the view and suck out the light.

But you know surely the end is in sight.

You feel you should care, you should be quite concerned.

But something inside you, you feel that it’s turned.

A sound like a clatter fills the void in your head.

You feel around now, and you’re back in your bed.

"Don't forget tonight." there's a man, dressed in all in denim and plaid.

But wait a moment...that can't be... "Dad?"

You look to the wall where a calendar sticks.
