The Fires of Autumn

An Ode to Seasons of Change

By Noah HagedornPublished 6 years ago 1 min read

I look up and witness change.

All around me it’s all I can witness

Like a constant reminder that my life is never going to be the same.

The trees shed their pretty summer coats

And in a burst of brilliant colors flash away.

Just like my whole world was changed with a flash before my eyes.

Do they long to go back I wonder

To how they were in those long days of summer filled with joy and laughter.

Or are they content with this new normal they have been forced into.

The red of these leaves burn like the fire inside my veins from the pain of my life.

Why did my father have to die I wonder.

Like the bright red blood that left his body

So the trees lose their bright red leaves in exchange

For freedom.
