Mandatory Usage

acknowledgment of the 'me' apart from you
consideration for the differential
steeped in hot cups of 'no shit' sobriety
dedicated attentiveness that personifies
demonstrative care
mutual regard that allows breathing room
a sanctum of emotional intelligence
akin to university senior year
as in
we’re sooo past preliminaries and prerequisites now
this is
remove shoes before entering sans reminders
lower eyes at first sign of indecency
keep hands to yourself
to your pledge
to permission
to preservation of peace
by me not obliterating your ass via incineration
Freedom
lies in never having to wonder about you
full of steadfast triumph
that needn’t brag
with its beacon visible for miles
built the old-fashioned way over time
Every word you will ever speak
action you will ever take
already accepted and agreed
Just leave your respect
as a place-marker between tolls
A familiar token
to be found
and recycled again and again
for tomorrow
