Take your Atomic Habits and your washboard abs,
Take your 30-day challenge and your meal plans,
Take your reels and your promises of a better me and shove them up your ass.
Take your before and after,
Take your “look at me now”
Take your philosophies for better living and jump off of a cliff.
Take your inspiring memes,
Take your therapeutic modalities and promises for a new life.
Take your business proposals and I hope they land right in your hoo-ha.
Take your wine-o’clock and 5’oclock somewhere,
And then take your Dry January and your Veganuary,
And actually, try to stop drinking alcohol and see what happens when you listen to that dull ache.
Try to stop eating animals and see how much the planet will thank you.
Take your scrolling and stale Tik-Tok’s,
Take your charcuterie boards,
Take your fabulous vacations and please bring me with you.
I am getting so tired of millions of people saying the same thing
A thousand different ways
It’s so redundant.
We can’t avoid the fact that we are in fact in a pandemic,
And things are different than before.
Yes, let’s improve ourselves, and yes, let’s do our best.
But some of us do F%^ing enough.
Being busy and beating ourselves up for failure,
Or not sticking to the latest 30-day challenge,
Is messing with our psyche.
If we want lasting change let’s change one thing at a time.
Yes, I am passionate about sobriety and veganism,
But what’s your thing?
What are those one or two things that you keep striving for?
Keep it simple.
And trust me, babe, you are doing enough if you are simply surviving today.
