I used to win at every game
But hit me hard today things ain’t the same
Gone are the times of how you cried
Me telling you I’m proud you tried
Your feet so tiny way back then
but footsteps sturdy just a toddler when
you’d run away from Mommy when I’d call
so full of play you had no fear at all
caught and laughed seems only yesterday that you were small
Sweet babies grow so quick before our eyes
Asleep one minute then runnin’ out and cuttin’ ties
Make every moment count, wish I could turn back time
and do it all again so goes the rhyme
Just bought you clothes but six months later nothing fits
I’m playing catch up as you blow my mind to bits
Want to protect you but at the same time make you fly
Root from your corner ‘til the day I die
Not into girls yet and yeah I’m kinda glad
Some aspects of childhood sticking I wish you had
more of the youth that for you I had dreamed
Felt it fell short to me or so it seemed
Parents always blame themselves when things ain’t right
Only get one childhood so we want it bright
Time to love and cherish with our last breath we’ll fight
Sweet babies grow so quick before our eyes
Asleep one minute then runnin’ out and cuttin’ ties
Make every moment count, wish I could turn back time
and do it all again so goes the rhyme
Can say I love you ‘til the stars go out
Won’t scratch the surface of what my feelings ‘bout
I wanna reach for you through time and space
Let joy rain down eternal blessings connecting grace
Sacred contract as a parent time just can’t erase
Smiled as you made every gain
Memories of how you pulled through pain
Nothing could stop you not even me
On my own cloud nine to just let you be
Keep up the fight stay in the ring
Keep the mission tight you are the King
All hail to you with love my Son
Smooth sail bless up for now you’ve won
