sun

(killer)

By Sara Published 3 months ago 1 min read

if you were the sun

why did you die.

all things die.

people.

they lay under cold rocks

in abandoned yards.

flowers.

they close and wilt

and shrivel.

love.

it burns in your chest

until it eats your flesh.

i am an idiot for thinking

i could defeat death.

first law of nature,

second law of thermodynamics.

all things live to die.

i didn’t think

i’d be the one

to drive a stake

through your hollow chest

that did not bleed.

but i did.

i watched flowers

close

as the sun set.

i loved even though

it died

and that means i might

live again.
