The taste of the summer dances on my tongue

A mix of heady flavours creating lasting memories

Of days spent frolicking and having fun

Stored forever in our personal treasuries

The strawberries and cream eaten on the lawn

With nothing to do except to enjoy the present moment

Drinking sparkling wine on the beach until dawn

Watching the fireflies in an intricate waltz for our enjoyment

The barbequed chicken and salty halloumi cheese

Sizzling with sausages and burgers on long summer Sundays

When clouds drift above in the gentle summer breeze

I know I will cherish these days always

These are the flavours the perfect summer is made of

The endless nights and days full of love

love poems
