(Sub)conscious Conversations
For The Dialogue Poetry Challenge
I’m trapped, I’m stuck here in this hell
Your beliefs created this victim veil
I refuse to believe that can be true
You are entitled to your point of view
.
silence ensues
.
Why would I have chosen such hardship and strife?
You didn’t know your thoughts are creating your life
Was I thinking so much about suffering and pain?
Well you certainly weren’t focused on what you want to gain
.
more silence
.
But there was a time when I did believe
And my imagination would conceive
My life lived in joy - rich and free
With only love surrounding me
.
so why isn’t that what I see?
.
You only see what you deeply believe
Not what your imagination can conceive
And you believe in pain and fear
You believe in suffering year after year
.
it’s why you cry so many tears
.
But how can I change those thoughts so bleak?
Start small - with gratitude each day of the week
But how can I do this when life is so hard?
You make a conscious choice to see the light in the dark
.
silence again
.
Can I truly transform my heavy heart?
Yes! With desire and will you can start!
I really don’t know if I can
I’ve endured such abuse from violent hands
.
how can I ever trust in man?
.
This is the challenge many are facing
Born into traumas they are replicating
It seems so impossible to ever escape
Is there even hope left for the human race?
.
Tears began rolling down her face
.
You must restore your energy within
Set yourself free from all addiction
Gather your strength and use it all to repair
Your broken heart so stuck in despair
.
Only you can do this alchemising
Focusing on love instead of despising
Don’t fall into the traps of anger or bitter
Just work hard on getting emotionally fitter
.
It’s hard to do and it doesn’t seem fair
But that’s the price of getting there
Thoughts of blame only hold you back
So throw them away along with fear of lack
.
Start to believe in abundance and wealth
Which becomes easier as you gain your health
Don’t tell others of your journey to creation
Just keep to yourself as you build this foundation
.
one day soon you will wake up in elation
.
But what if I keep losing my way?
You kindly tell yourself that’s okay
But I’m already so far behind…
Comparison is the thief of joy in the mind
.
I really don’t know, I don’t know if I can
My foundations are heavily set in the sand
So wouldn’t you rather secure them to land?
Create a life that you consciously planned?
.
silence ensues
.
It’s going to take a monumental effort
To uproot everything - and I’m no expert
What will I do if I fail?
You will dust yourself off, and adjust your sail
.
What if I believe and nothing changes?
What if you are tricking me with these exchanges
Well that shame would be on me and not upon you
And what a lame trick from any point of view!
.
I don’t think my heart can take another break
You know you’re far stronger than you actually think
I really don’t feel so very strong
Which is why you’re going to be happy to be proven wrong
.
silence
.
At the end of the day it’s your choice to make
You decide where to gamble your stake
But know that in holding pessimism dear
Is really just you hiding in fear
.
And if that’s your choice, I understand
But know that it’s your choice not to rebuild on land
Wouldn’t you rather risk learning your power?
Than to stay here, decaying in cower?

This is quite fantastic Kayleigh! Well done! I hope this gets a TS!
Like the use of the narration lines for framing the conversation throughout!
This line is brilliant: "Comparison is the thief of joy in the mind"
Whoaaaa, this had so much truth to it, and could see it clearly because of our previously conversations and I'm grateful for that. So deep and powerful! I loved it. Sending you lots of love and hugs ❤️
Very good! 😊💕❤️
