If my words were lost

How come they still rest on my tongue?

If this hurts so much

I'll admit where I went wrong

I love you

I'll continue to show you, as such

So the cards don't fall in your favour

Things fall apart

That's human nature,

but the thought of us becoming strangers

That's a thought I'd hate to entertain

If my heart is on pause

How come there is a hole in it where you once stood?

If this hurts so much

I'll admit where I went wrong

I love you

I'll continue to show you, as such

So the cards they don't fall in your favour

Things fall apart

That's human nature,

but the thought of us becoming strangers

Is a thought I'd hate to entertain

That is a thought that I always hate to entertain. But in the end, that's what would always happen. Loved your poem!

  • Readers are left thinking about their own relationships and the complexity of human nature as the author effectively conveys the essence of grief and the dread of losing connection.
