stay

(with me)

By Sara Published 2 months ago 1 min read
Top Story - May 2024

i can never make them stay.

they are like orbits

always in motion

around me but

never holding my hand.

they are like shooting stars

who light up my nights

for one black sky

and die.

they are the people

who come and go

like the ebb and flow

of the ocean bed.

i never stay.

my legs are

made of air

and my spirit

is the moon.

when the wolves howl

and the owls cry

my soul lies still

on a grey stone.

the day has faded

into the emptiness

and all the people

have abandoned the forest.

but i stayed.

stay with me?

Oh I feel this 🤍🌟 It feels like something you found in a lonely pocket of my heart and put the perfect words to. Really lovely x

There's an ache and an airiness that complement each other in your writing. You words feel weighty as an anchor and yet yearn with the lightness of air. I feel caught between two places as I read the words. Congratulations on Top Story! Well deserved!! 🥳
