Snide Effect

A Sickened Sonnet

By D. J. ReddallPublished 5 months ago 1 min read

Somethings stirs in the shrinking, modern soul

Ignorance and confidence, its parents;

It is an effect, and takes a huge toll

Exposure to it yields only regrets

In the past, one could not be confident

Without some knowledge of a given thing

No one, for example, not cognizant

Of the alphabet would have tried writing

Let alone thought themselves a real poet;

No longer does ignorance prevent pride

One can know nothing, and never know it

Then object, should one’s genius be denied

Dunning-Kruger is this effect’s bad name

Beware, for its poor victims know no shame

Sonnet

    Oh wow, I never knew that there was a name for this! But it's soooo true because some people are like that!
