Run

Don’t Walk

Stop making my heart stop.

I need it for too many things

Like getting my PhD

And girl bossing

Working through my childhood traumas

And finding me.

Wish I could forget

I ever met you

The way your fingers grazed my lips

The way you held me

And slowly let go.

Wish I could ignore

Your face in a crowd

Your hands on my back

I saw you do it to her too.

You do it to everyone

And you intrigue me even more.

Like how you learned the science

Of how you need to touch my hair

To make it hard to breathe.

And what you need to say

To make the heart I hide so well

Beat just a little faster.

My brain says run

And my heart says stay

And my feet stay frozen

My eyes go wild.

You’re gonna drive me mad.

I know it already.

So this is me

Warning me

To run.
