(in circles)

i saw her

in the park

spinning on the

big circle

that made you dizzy

until you didn’t know

where you were.

she reached out her hand.

smiled.

i took it.

and then i was

going in circles too.

but when i looked

to check

if she was scared too

(like me)

i could not find her

red dress

flapping in the wind.

my fingernails

dug into the bars

as

people

things

places

ran past me

and i couldn’t scream:

but i don’t want to be here.

it wasn’t me.

but i know the girl

who gave me her hand.

i see her

in the mirror

sometimes.
