I did not think my life would be this way-

my childhood self had many different dreams.

My yesterday is nothing like today.

-

My antecedent thought I’d get a say

if staying squarely on the good girl teams.

I did not think my life would be this way.

-

My value was what metrics could display

to others- what a boastful family deems.

My yesterday is nothing like today.

-

Surprises caused the path to go astray-

some choices, others more survival schemes.

I did not think my life would be this way.

-

Reflection changed the method that I weigh

the value of competitive extremes.

My yesterday is nothing like today.

-

As parent, grace and kindness I convey-

to look upon yourself with loving themes.

I did not think my life would be this way.

My yesterday is nothing like today.
