I feel a change within me
That I fear others cannot see.
A sad and dark coming
That my soul has been summoning.
Like a bud closing it’s petals in
A bird resting her wing against her kin.
I’ve become like a moth; in a cocoon
Terrified to be opened too soon.
It’s an isolation I much dislike
For loneliness is my souls strike.
I have been alone for many moons
And I don’t want these friendships to ruin.
But I feel it deep within me
A strong pull to rest and just be.
For all this day time healing
Is causing so much nighttime feeling.
So I have to trust my friends
Will still be with me when my rest ends.
Learn to have more hope
Than to be covered by Miss Nelly’s cloak.
About the Creator
Lane Burns
I’ve always wanted to be a writer. I’m still just finding my voice and coming to believe that I can do this again. I like writing poetry and darker fiction. As well as some fan fictions!
